Our story

“It’s all about change, really. Everything has to change, it’s that simple”

My motivation to launch Wild Gardens sprung from a plaque on the side of a building in Cornwall.

Have you ever been to The Eden Project? If so, you may have noticed a plaque quoting Gandhi that says: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

I realised with a bang that the horticultural world needs to change.

Safe to say my drive home from The Eden Project was filled with thoughts of a gardening company that does it all differently.

In recent times gardening has relied on machinery and chemical controls, that are starkly opposite to the values of growth and nature that gardening should embody.

At Wild Gardens, we’ve turned that idea on its head.

Of course, we all still want gardens that are functional and beautiful.

But there’s a stirring, growing awareness of a need to share our precious spaces. Giving a small section back to wildlife and nurturing habitats. Allowing a patch of lawn to grow wild. Or adding a garden to the roof of your shed.

The thing is, the numbers add up. If everyone starts thinking about – and doing – the small things differently, we can be that change (that Gandhi was talking about).

It’s a journey we hope you’d like to come on with us.
